Nature photography requires a different set of skills and techniques, compared to the rest of my portfolio.
I good background knowledge of your subject it recommended. Observation and anticipation contribute to great images, but you do also need that element of luck. Planning your approach and best vantage point are important, however I always avoid getting too close, remaining sympathetic to my subject.
I try to avoid or remove distractions, 'gardening' as they call it, before pressing the shutter.
You also need copious amounts of patience, a big kit bag and some quite expensive lenses!
